Bald Head Island Croquet Club are repeat winners of the Penwell Trophy. With five of their eight pairs qualifying to the playoffs in their respective flights, BHICC had put themselves into a very strong position at the end of block play. One round later and they had a lock on the trophy. The final score wasn’t even close.
The tournament, now in its seventh year, drew a record entry of 84 players. With guests, that meant that about a hundred sat down together at the Tournament Dinner on Friday and the Finals Brunch on Sunday. The beautiful weather throughout the tournament was a welcome change from last year’s monsoon.
David and Mieke Maloof directed the tournament. Jeff Soo did the scheduling. Many volunteers assisted in running the multi-site event.
