The 2006 USCA International Rules National Championships will feature an all-North Carolina championship doubles final. Paul Scott and Jeff Soo will face Bob Cherry and Danny Huneycutt in Friday’s final match.

Scott will be contesting the final for the fifth straight time. He won in 2002 and 2003 with Soo, then in 2004 with Jerry Stark. Scott and Soo were runners-up in 2005.

In championship singles, Scott, Huneycutt, and Ron Lloyd have advanced to the quarterfinals. Lloyd achieved the upset of the tournament so far, beating three-time champion and top-ranked North American Leo McBride. Cherry and Soo will resume unfinished matches today for a chance at spots in the quarterfinals.

In First Flight, Eileen Soo is undefeated and assured of the top seed in the singles playoffs. She is also in the doubles final with partner Phyllis Butts of California. Tony Reaves and Becky Essick are also in good position with one block round to play before the playoff cut.
