Posted 5 August 2001 to NC District, People by Jeff SooLeadership changed hands at the Annual General Meeting of USCA—NC District, held July 28th at the Linville Ridge croquet club. Paul Scott, of Charlotte, NC, is the new District President. He took over from Jeff Soo, who had held the post since September, 1997.
Scott, 30, is a well-known and popular player, with impressive croquet credentials. His tournament titles include the 1995 NC International Rules Championship, the 1998 NC State Championship, the 1997 and 1998 Country Boys tournaments, and the 1999 USCA National Doubles Championship (with Jeff Soo). He has been a singles finalist or semi-finalist at each of the last three USCA National Championships.
Having learned the game in his native England, Scott brings a broad perspective and many fresh ideas to the administration of the game in North Carolina. He is an experienced croquet instructor and tournament director. In all, he is eminently well qualified to lead North Carolina croquet in the years to come.
