Jeff Soo (Chapel Hill, NC) has added to his collection of United States Croquet Association national titles, winning the singles at the 2005 USCA National Championships, held November 6–12 in Rancho Mirage, CA. It was Soo’s third win at this event, following wins in 2000 and 2002. Soo placed second in 2001, and did not enter the 2003 and 2004 Nationals, so he has reached the national singles final in each of his last four attempts.

Soo had previously won five national doubles titles (three American rules and two International rules), each time partnered with Paul Scott (Raleigh, NC). Soo’s eight total titles tie the record for most overall USCA national titles, first attained by Mik Mehas (Ventura, CA). And Soo’s six total American-rules national titles tie the longstanding record held by Archie Peck (four singles and two doubles titles) and Reid Fleming (three of each) [and Ted Prentis, four doubles and two singles].
