Four members of the Stoneridge Croquet Club (Chapel Hill, NC) trekked west to the 2005 USCA National Championships, held November 6–12 in Rancho Mirage, California. All four were still contending on the final day of the tournament, and two of them brought back first-place trophies.

Frank Thompson played in the Second Flight, where he won the doubles with partner Chris Mondt (San Francisco, CA). Eileen Soo played in the First Flight, placing second in doubles with partner Anne Coco (Houston, TX). Paul Scott and Jeff Soo teamed in Championship Flight Doubles, placing third. And Jeff Soo won the Championship Singles, his third win at this event.
